Cookie Policy of refurb.me

This document informs Users about the technologies that help refurb.me to achieve the purposes described below. Such technologies allow the Owner to access and store information (for example by using a Cookie) or use resources (for example by running a script) on a User’s device as they interact with refurb.me.

For simplicity, all such technologies are defined as "Trackers" within this document, unless there is a reason to differentiate.
For example, while Cookies can be used on both web and mobile browsers, it would be inaccurate to talk about Cookies in the context of mobile apps as they are a browser-based Tracker. For this reason, within this document, the term Cookies is only used where it is specifically meant to indicate that particular type of Tracker.

Some Trackers are strictly necessary to provide the Service or remember choices the User makes, so they do not require the User's consent. Others measure which pages lead Users to the offers they choose. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Brazil, and wherever refurb.me cannot tell the User's country, refurb.me uses these only once the User accepts them in the cookie banner.

Refurb.me uses Trackers managed directly by the Owner (so-called "first-party" Trackers) and Trackers that enable services provided by a third-party (so-called "third-party" Trackers). Unless otherwise specified within this document, third-party providers may access the Trackers managed by them.
The validity and expiration periods of Cookies and other similar Trackers may vary depending on the lifetime set by the Owner or the relevant provider. Some of them expire upon termination of the User’s browsing session.
In addition to what’s specified in the descriptions within each of the categories below, Users may find more precise and updated information regarding lifetime specification as well as any other relevant information (such as the presence of other Trackers) in the linked privacy policies of the respective third-party providers or by contacting the Owner.

How refurb.me uses Trackers

Necessary

Refurb.me uses so-called "technical" Cookies and other similar Trackers to carry out activities that are strictly necessary for the operation or delivery of the Service.

Trackers managed directly by the Owner

  • Store, session and preference Cookies

These Cookies remember the store the User chose, keep signed-in Users signed in and record which banners the User closed.

    Personal Data processed: Tracker.

    Trackers duration:

    • v5_locale (the store the User chose): 3 years
    • v5_session_token (signed-in session for price alerts): 3 years
    • v5_banner_closed_* (banners the User closed): 1 month
    • v5_source (the link that brought a User who signs up for alerts): 3 years
    • cc_cookie (the User's answer in the cookie banner): 6 months
    • v5_admin_code, v5_merchant_code (staff and merchant dashboards only): 3 years

Trackers managed by third parties

  • Cloudflare (Cloudflare Inc.)

Cloudflare is a traffic optimization and distribution service provided by Cloudflare Inc.
The way Cloudflare is integrated means that it filters all the traffic through refurb.me, i.e., communication between refurb.me and the User's browser, while also allowing analytical data from refurb.me to be collected.

Personal Data processed: Tracker and various types of Data as specified in the privacy policy of the service.

Place of processing: United States, Privacy Policy.

    Trackers duration:

    • _cfuvid: indefinite
    • cf_clearance: 30 minutes

Measurement

Refurb.me measures traffic with Plausible Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. None of them uses Cookies or stores anything on the User's device, so they are not Trackers in the sense of this document. The privacy policy describes the data they process.

Trackers managed directly by the Owner

  • Visit and click measurement Cookies

These Cookies link a visit (the page it started on, the site or campaign that brought the User and the last article read) and the last product, filter or listing viewed to the offers the User clicks, so the Owner can tell which pages lead to purchases. The Owner sends this information to PostHog under a pseudonymous identifier, as the privacy policy describes.

Personal Data processed: Tracker; Usage Data.

    Trackers duration:

    • v5_visit (the current visit): 30 minutes
    • v5_last_filter_id, v5_last_longtail_path, v5_last_product_view_id (link a click on an offer to the page it came from): 10 minutes

How to manage Trackers on refurb.me

Users can accept or reject the measurement Trackers in the cookie banner and change their answer at any time through the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Rejecting them deletes the measurement Cookies. With regard to Cloudflare's Trackers, Users can find more information in Cloudflare's privacy policy or by contacting Cloudflare.

How to control or delete Cookies and similar technologies via your device settings

Users may use their own browser settings to:

  • See what Cookies or other similar technologies have been set on the device;
  • Block Cookies or similar technologies;
  • Clear Cookies or similar technologies from the browser.

Users can, for example, find information about how to manage Cookies in the most commonly used browsers at the following addresses:

Consequences of denying the use of Trackers

Users are free to block Cookies. Refurb.me then can no longer remember the chosen store or keep the User signed in, and Cloudflare may ask the User to complete a security check more often.
